Gwern is who I wish I could be when I grow up (sadly, I'm already quite grown up).
But as a role model? An aspirational example? An inspiration to write yourself (especially if you want your mind reflected at all in future silicon minds)? All of those, a thousand times over.

This was a random jewel that I happened upon. Without reading the comment that Gwern was using an avatar, my mind was had really been wondering if he was a real person or a humanoid Ai. Especially since he said he was interested in transhumanism, my mind though he might be an AI. He is so brilliant, eloquent.
As an retired school nurse, I think that his speech is excellent in pitch & variability.
If he is using an avatar, then lol, it explains how buff he looks 🤣
Awesome interview. The 'avatar' was quite distracting though - wonder if there was a different way to do this without the avatar. Doomberg has something similar - a green chicken - that's even more distracting.

This literally changed my life! I completely pivoted my whole life to solving the existential risk from AI due to this podcast.
